Kinsa for Schools FLUency Program

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

Hello Kiddies, Parents/Caregivers, and Teachers! One of Ms. Rose's favorite times was serving kiddies in School Health. I was ecstatic to find out about Kinsa for Schools FLUency program which is providing digital thermometers along with tools to help ensure the health of kiddies during this pandemic. For schools, that are currently not doing hybrid or distance-learning model, many districts are requiring that parents screen children before attending school. This request seems simple but at the initial onset of the pandemic thermometers became increasingly scarce. Kinsa for Schools FLUency program aims to make the task of keeping kiddies healthy; while also preparing parents and the community, to meet guidelines, which are especially important aims as well. Kinsa aims to try to assist parents/caregivers and schools with achieving health, wellness, and COVID related opening and safety goals. Kinsa for Schools FLUency Program provides schools with digital thermometers, for school staff and for families who all want one, they are connected to Kinsa's app. Which provides reminders for temperature checks before school, assesses the temperature reading, provides a real-time symptoms checklist, and a symptom-free status, in order, to ensure that kids are healthy enough for school. In the event that a kiddie has COVID-19 related symptoms, it provides guidance for staying home, periodic check-ins with parents, and follow the progression of your child's symptoms and illness. In order to track your child's health but also protect other kiddies from exposure.

The program also provides support, by connecting schools and School Nurses/Staff to a clinical team that can provide tips, guidance, and content to keep schools informed. A personalized school health portal that is data protected and private allows opportunities to track the health of the school and also provide families messages and tips when illnesses are high. The program is also multi-lingual with a Spanish option. The Kinsa for Schools FLUency Program is only available for elementary schools right now. If you know of a school that is in need of assistance and would be a great fit for this program you can refer or apply here.

As a Health Services Coordinator for a Title X school at one time, I realize the value of providing schools, staff, and parents/caregivers, with tools that help to assist health and wellness in kiddies. This concern has never been felt more then during this time. I have referred this program to several colleagues and love the opportunity to share this with the KiddieHab audience and family! Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Informed.
